How to Choose Stitched Sports Headband

Material and Design
The material and design of your Stitched Sports Headband determine how well it keeps sweat out of your eyes and off your face. Moisture-wicking materials like terrycloth absorb sweat, but they can become saturated. When they've soaked all the sweat they can hold, the droplets will fall down your forehead and into your eyes. The Stitched Sports Headband material can affect how well your sweat cools you off. Thick fabric Stitched Sports Headband trap heat against your forehead and don't allow sweat to evaporate quickly enough to provide the cooling effect it should.

Sweat Diversion vs. Sweat Absorption
Fabric Stitched Sports Headband absorb sweat, while sweat-diverting Stitched Sports Headband are made from lightweight plastic materials that adhere to your forehead and provide a channel to divert sweat away from your eyes. It rolls off to the sides of your face, where it can drip off, taking body heat with it.

Non-Slip Properties

Sweatbands for intense cardio workouts should have non-slip properties. This will ensure your Stitched Sports Headbandd stays in place during your workout and won't slip down your forehead. Look for an adhesive sweat-diverting Stitched Sports Headband or one with silicone grippers to guarantee a secure fit.

Compatibility With Helmets

If you're participating in a sport that requires a helmet, like biking, hockey, or skiing, then choose a sweatband that is compatible with helmets. You can make sure it stays in place during your workout and won't interfere with the fit of your helmet.

Hairstyles

If you have long hair, bangs, or a lot of layers, it's important to choose an athletic Stitched Sports Headband that will keep your hair out of your eyes while you work out. Keep in mind that a regular Stitched Sports Headband isn't designed to manage sweat. You may combine a general Stitched Sports Headband with a sweat-diverting Stitched Sports Headband that adheres to your forehead and diverts sweat.

Process of Stitched Sports Headband

Step 1
To determine the appropriate headband size, the first step is to measure around the head where the band will be placed. For instance, if you're purchasing a headband for someone, measure their head and record the measurement in inches or centimeters. For example, Kristjan's head measured 21 inches around. This measurement can then be used as a reference point to select an appropriately sized headband.

Step 2
Cut your knit rectangle 4 inches by the head measurement. This makes a 2-inch across sport band. If you are looking for a wider band, increase your width by a couple of inches.

Step 3
Fold the right sides together on the length and serge. If you use your sewing machine, use a stretch stitch. You've just made a tube.

Step 4
Trim threads and turn your tube right sides out.

Step 5
Tuck one end of the tube into the other. This can be tricky as the fabric was kind of slippery. I clipped mine until I was happy with it. **Be sure you don't twist the fabric. The twist works well for a girl, but the boys aren't so keen.If you choose, you can fold over the end of the tube that is on top. I chose not to put in the extra effort because knit won't fray and honestly if he makes it through sports camp with just the one athletic headband d I'll be shocked!

Step 6
Stitch the band closed. I used my cover stitch machine to get that twin-needle look with a bit of extra oomph on the other side of the seam. You can also use a serger or a stretch zig-zag stitch on a regular sewing machine.

How to Keep a Stitched Sports Headband From Slipping

Get a Grip!

Hands down, one of the best tips for how to keep a headband in place is to create a headband holder or something for your headband to hold on to! To make a now-show headband holder, try applying some hairspray, pomade, hair gel, or texturizing spray to the spots where the headband will sit on your head. Then, simply put your headband on and style your hair! You can also use hot glue or a rubber-like textured product that has a good grip on it and apply it to the inside of your headband. Voila! A no-show, no-go headband holder solution! Does that sound like too much trouble? Don't worry, we have our Non-Slip Athletic headbands that have the grips on the back from you already!

Secure It In Place

Okay, so maybe you don't plan on wearing a headband all day and, therefore, don't want to apply hairspray, gel, or pomade to parts of your hair, or have the time to create a headband holder to the inside of your headband. We totally understand, which is why this next tip is worth definitely worth a try! All you'll need is either some bobby pins orhair clips.

Try an Adjustable Headban

Sometimes headbands can slip if they are too tight on your head. For this reason, we recommend tryingAdjustable Headbands! These are headbands that either feature an adjustable strap or ribbon tie for a personalized fit every time. Headbands of Hope'sKnotted Headbands are a super cute headband option when you want a custom-fitted headband to complete your outfit. Need an adjustable headband that stays put during workouts? Q: What stitch is best for headbands?

A: Use a long narrow zigzag stitch, a three-point zigzag stitch or overcast stitch to sew together long edges of headband fabric pieces. After sewing the zigzag or stretch stitch to the long edges, you'll want to remove the basting stitches!

Q: Why do people wear sports headbands?

A: It cools you down. So, not only does a headband soak up your sweat, but it's also like a mini air conditioner for your head! As the sweat evaporates from the headband, it brings this cool breeze that helps keep your body temperature in check when you're going all out in your workouts.

Q: How do you organize athletic headbands?

A: Make a storage device using hooks and a hanger to store elastic bands. Gather 10-12 shower curtain hooks and a clothes hanger. Place 3-5 headbands on each hook, and hang the hooks from the bottom of the hanger. Secure the shower curtain hooks so they stay in place.

Q: Which elastic is best for headbands?

A: Foldover Elastic.Folding this elastic over an edge and securing it in place creates an elastic binding, adding a bit of stretch and flexibility to an edge or encased seam. Foldover Elastic is ideal for necklines, sleeves, activewear, headbands, and other stretch projects.

Q: What's the difference between a headband and a sweatband?

Q: Why do athletes wear headbands?
